Biography
I am an experienced and passionate bilingual Elementary school teacher with a background in Photography, Latin American Studies, Elementary education, Special education, and Bilingual Education.
Education philosophy
My teaching philosophy evolves each year but my dedication to holistic student- centered education serves as an anchor. I work hard to uphold this core principle by cultivating a safe and welcoming classroom environment. I do this by listening to students, making space for them to voice concerns and discuss their hopes, interests, goals, and fears. In addition to attending to their social emotional health I try to enhance their academic experience by creating and facilitating dynamic, hands on, inquiry based projects and lessons.
Ensuring my students perform well academically is important to me because I want them to have access to all the opportunities academic success brings, however, I consider their grades and scores only part of my job. For me, levels, grades, and scores are only one measure of their learning. I strive to foster students growing into more kind, thoughtful, reflective people who will take what they learn to improve the world around them.
My sources of inspiration as an educator are vast and varied, but the students I work with are without a doubt my primary source of inspiration. Students have always been fascinating to me because they are products of the past, representative of the present, and in charge of the future. They teach me every day about where we come from and where we are going. I believe they are often overlooked and undermined but are a wealth of knowledge and hope. I offer them insight into how the world works and how to do things, but they teach me how the world could be and how there is more than one way to do things. They keep me learning and inspire me to continue to develop and improve myself and my practice. It is because of them that I remain fascinated by the world and all there is to learn and am able to spark that sense of awe and wonder in the classroom.

Me mantienen aprendiendo y me inspiran a seguir desarrollándome y mejorando a mí misma y a mi práctica.
